The inspiration for this card came from one of my online friends - finally something to do with my tags, and the tag is the first in the twelve tags challenge for 2013. Hopefully I'll continue with them this year... I was woefully behind last year.

I'm using another oldie but goodie Happy Birthday stamp from the "Let Them Eat Cupcakes" set from Quietfire Design

I used a pre cut tag (American Tag "Shipping Tag" white) to start with. Ran it through my embossing machine using part of a Couture Creations clock embossing folder. I then used my rubber mallet and a Cuttlebug "Clockworks" embossing folder, embossing selectively around the previous embossing. Sponged Distress (Iced Spruce, Rusty Hinge, Stormy Sky) the the edges with "Walnut Stain"

Die cut the gears from Grungepaper using Tim's Sizzix Gadget Gears die. Applied the new metallic Distress Stains (Tarnished Brass, Brushed Pewter, Antique Bronze), dried and then scuffed the edges with sandpaper. Sponged a bit of Black Soot over the scruffiness then adhered to tag using Golden's Matte Medium. Trimmed of the overspill.

Punched holes in my tag for my various brads, or made reinforcement pieces from two sizes of hole punches. The black one was done on the Grungepaper, colored with black soot and embossed with black embossing powder.

I didn't have Tim's text stamp, so wrote the quote on some white cardstock using a .02 Micron pen, colored some of the open areas of letters with Prisma colored pencils, trimmed it down, sponged some Walnut stain around the edges and layered it onto a bright yellow cardstock then onto the tag with 3D adhesive tape.

Scored and folded my easel card from cream toned cardstock. Went into my stash of background papers and cut some up to fit the areas. The one under the tag is a beautifully colored background and I wish I could remember how I did it... The background on the floor of the card is done on Arches Text Wove paper with various sprays and sea salt.

Stamped the Happy Birthday on cream cardstock with Versafine Black Onyx, clear embossed and die cut with Spellbinders Scalloped Rectangles. Adhered the cut off portion of one of the gears to this rectangle then adhered it to the card with 3D foam tape to act as the stopper.

A final touch, used Distress Stains to color my tape measure ribbon piece (Gathered Twigs, Scattered Straw & Dried Marigold), misted with water and scrunched in my hand, dried it then threaded it along with some mesh, a polka dotted narrow ribbon through the hole and tied them with a thin twine bow!!
