ID: MC Apr/13 - Quill - Deepest Sympathy card
size: 5"w x 7"h

Created: April 21, 2013
Modified:

I made a bunch of my combed leaves using a combing gadget I made and hand colored papers from Arches Text Wove at my last quilling session. I knew right away I wanted to make a sympathy card with them.

Today I was experimenting with another quilled flower and put the two together.

I'm also using a sentiment  from Quietfire Design

I love the variegation in the leaves. I used Dylusions ink sprays (Sunshine Yellow, Fresh Lime, Dirty Martini, & Vibrant Turquoise) misting with water and tilting and moving the wet inks on Arches Text Wove paper. I blotted some areas, leaving other wetter and dried with a heat gun. Hand cut my strips.

The Orange flower was made on a quilling comb, but instead of going on every prong, I skipped a prong each time, giving me a larger hole and more space between the seed pods. So I added the quilled pieces.

I absolutely love Ruche cardstock (sorry not available anymore...). I die cut my oval (Spellbinders Classic Ovals) in the Ruche cardstock, adhered it to my dark green cardstock and die cut with another oval die. Adhered both layers to my white card front. Stamped the sentiment with Versafine Vintage sepia.

Adhered my quilled elements following the contour of the oval.
