MC Sept/12 - Quill Poinsettia -
Season's Greetings cards
Created: Sept 6, 2012 I went to another quilling session yesterday - yup it was good and productive... The quilled elements were all done during the session, then I finished it off with the details today. I'm using an Xmas stamp greeting from Quietfire Design |
I used my Bead Roller (Chuck's Bead Roller) to curl the end of the 5 quill strips that were glued together, then put hairline glue lines and stuck the quill strips in place. All the quill strips were cut in my pasta machine on the linguini setting. The white is my pearlescent wrapping paper (Paper Roots store), the other strips are from various cardstocks/papers. Quilled three layers of poinsettia petals, each one a bit smaller then the row below, then a circle of yellow florets. I tried three versions of a leaf formation, the first was done on a combing tool (right side sprig), the upper left one going back and forth, making loops for each petal. The last one which is a lighter green, did a center loop/vein, then adhered individual petals to the vein. The last one was the easiest and the look I was going for. It's adhered to a dark green cardstock, then onto the front of a white card which I embossed with the Cuttlebug "Swiss Dots" folder. Added the half pearls in a grey and a white in four sizes. Then added the flourish of white pearls and some Mizuhiki cord in green/gold combo. The Xmas sentiment was stamped onto white Shrink Plastic with the black and adhered with Glossy Accents. Added some black Stickles to the floret centers. |
