This is quite an involved quilled butterfly and it's all because of a question one of my quilling friends asked me at our last quilling session... It was a question that wouldn't leave me alone, so I decided to try it...

I'm using one of the latest sentiment stamps from Quietfire Design

I die cut the Memory Boxx "Finn Butterfly" white cardstock, sponged some distress Wild Honey. Cut a strip from that infamous background cardstock... and adhered it to the contour of the butterfly, then added some on the radial  pieces of the wings for stability. Gave the whole thing a spritz of Dylusions spray inks (yellow, orange and a touch of the red), let it dry. Traced the outline and cut from another piece of cardstock layered with Sookwang tape. Attached the top and bottom together and started adding my quilled pieces.

I used a lot of different quill techniques - Beehive, tight coils, heart shape variation, eccentric tear drops, husking and a few others.

When all the coils were adhered, I sprinkled Ritz micro fine glitter "Gold" onto the exposed tape. Added a bead of glue around the outline edge and sprinkled gold glitter there too. Added the 2 amber rhinestone hearts. The body was die cut from brown cardstock, a bead of glue along the body and black flocking adhered to it, then to the butterfly.

I die cut the white card oval (Spellbinders Grand Ovals) just shy of the left side so I kept my fold, trimmed off the bottom so it would stand. Die cut a smaller oval, sponged with Distress Tumbled Glass, embossed with Crafts Concepts "Flutterby". Stamped the sentiment with Versafine Black Onyx.

Punched out a length of 1"w yellow pearlized quill paper using Martha Stewart "Double Loops" punch, cut between the loops on the solid portion of the strip and adhered to back of smaller oval, then adhered it to card front.

Adhered my butterfly.
