ID: MC July/12 - Quill - Xmas Charm card
size: 4.25"w x 5.5"h

Created: July 2, 2012

The first of this year's batch of Xmas cards. I made a dozen of these today...

I'm using an Xmas quote stamp from Quietfire Design

I used Tim's Sizzix word die "Dream" as a template to create my letters to spell "Xmas Charm". The "h" is the letter "E" flipped with top and bottom removed. The "C" is part of the letter "D". The "X is the only one I had to create from scratch... Anyway once I created the words, I scanned it and cut with my electronic cutter (but can be cut by hand) using 110# white cardstock. I stacked and adhered two cut outs together to use as my stencil. Using a light table (a window will work) started the embossing with a large balled stylus onto 67# white cardstock and then defined the letters with a smaller stylus. I also used a bit of waxed paper to make my stylus glide better. When done, hit the high points of the letters with a sponge and Distress "Worn Lipstick" and embossed with Pearlescent embossing powder. Then sponged Gathered Twigs all over, putting more color in the letter area. Adhered it to my side folded card and trimmed the edges.

Die cut the ivy sprig from some scrap really ugly greenish background paper... It looks waaaay better as a die cut. Adhered to card.

Used a Sizzix folder from the Winter Botanicals set and embossed only the ornament using my rubber mallet.

Ran some red paper through my pasta machine on the linguini setting and made tight coils. Then with the very large balled stylus, ran it gently into the coil to make it expand into a domed berry shape. Filled it with white glue so it would hold it's shape. When dry, adhered it to card.

Inside was stamped with Flourishes "Under the Mistletoe" set #177 with Versafine Black Onyx and sprig colored with Distress markers. The quote was also stamped with the black.
