MC Aug/12 - BFly Easel - HB cards
Created: Aug 11, 2012 I bought this Memory die "Curly Wreath" specifically for cutting it and then cutting it apart and putting it back together in an other configuration... It's a curly scalloped circle and I saw it as a beautiful vertical linear effect on a card... So I got a bit carried away here. I cut the curly wreath, reassembled it into a wavy vertical line and used it as a mask (notice the bottom wing edges and the white curls - and after using various sprays created this fabulous background. I looked at it and couldn't decide what I wanted to do with it. It was too large for a card, so ended up cutting it with my electronic cutter into this large solid butterfly. I'm using various stamps - Happy Birthday, part of a Friendship Quote Marks stamp - "my friend", butterfly and butterfly circle - from Quietfire Design |
As I mentioned above, I used the curly wreath as a mask for the background using mixes of Distress reinkers and some Dylusion ink sprays, then applied Perfect Medium to the strip of curls and embossed with Carnelian and sprinkled with Hematite embossing powders. Stamped various design elements (Dylusions) on the butterfly using Versafine Black Onyx. added the white half pearls & large rhinestones. Cut out a body and applied Black & Rust flocking. Adhered to butterfly and added antennae using floral stamen. Cut out the base butterfly and sponged Distress Mustard Seed and Dried Marigold. Then cut and adhered the supporting easel legs for the main butterfly. As you can see by the above photo, the butterfly hovers over the card. I then stamped the butterfly circle stamp onto some cardstock, using a mask where the 2 circles join, die cut it with a Spellenders circle die and my rubber mallet, sponged some Spun Sugar around the edges and adhered them to the back of my card base. Added a little doodle heart and colored with Prisma colors. |
