ID: MC March 11 - Window - Sheltering Tree card
5"w x 7"h

Created: March 19, 2011

I was in a mood to do some coloring and wanted to use one of my Dover Coloring Book samples. I removed the frame and printed it out in a very light grey tone one white 110# cardstock. I wasn't in a mood for white or pink flowers, but wanted something more in the yellow tones. No idea what the tree is, the bird is sheltered in, or for that matter what type of bird, so took creative license and colored it with Prisma colors my way.

This card uses one of the Friendship Quote Marks quotes by Quietfire Design

I decided to keep the bird on the inside of the card, so that meant I needed a window. The rest just evolved.

I used a Spellbinders oval Petite die for the main card window. Then used a size larger as a template to cut the window oval from the orangey toned Bazzill Monochrome cardstock. Layered the two together, then trimmed the edges.

I punched out the butterfly border (Martha Stewart Double Edge Monarch Butterflies) from white cardstock. Inked with a Perfect Medium pad and embossed with Kaleidoscope embossing powder.

Stamped the quote onto white cardstock with Versafine Vintage Sepia and clear embossed. Die cut with an oval die, dry embossed, and sponged Distress Scattered Straw on the edges.

Tied a peg bow from some orangey gauze ribbon. Added Gel pen faux stitches around the edge of t he window.

I recently made a mold (Suze Weinberg Mold 'n Pour) of a button I liked and made these using Paper Clay, then colored with Tombow watercolor markers and when dry put on 2 coats of Base Coat nail polish. Tied them with brown twine and unravelled the threads.

I'll put some hand lettering around the edges
when I'm ready to use it.
