I have wanted to make one of these tri shutter cards for ages. I finally did...

I used a medium toned brown cardstock for the base, then the squares design from one of my favorite scrapbook papers which I think is no longer available, I hate using it up (Provo Craft Pathways - "Americana"), and on the other side, cream toned cardstock embossed with the Happy Birthday folder.

The card was made for a 90th birthday for my uncle. He was always in to postage stamps from all over the world. He gave me my love of stamps as well. I searched the net for stamps that had "90" on them (they were few and far between), but eventually I found some I really liked. I printed them out on glossy paper, some I mounted on the same brown cardstock others I left just as is.

I cut out the Happy Birthday word with my Cricut using the cream toned cardstock, then rubbed Distress Pumice all over it and embossed with Queen's Gold embossing powder. Since the letters overlapped, I decided to make the joins more pronounced by outlining that area with a Papermate Eraser Mate pen and embossing with black. I layered the words onto a shadow blackout done on black cardstock.

As a final touch I added 3 red heart rhinestones.

Depending how you look at the card, one side only has the scrap book paper showing, while the other view has only the cream Happy Birthday embossed cardstock.
