ID: MC Jun - Onyx Magnolia - Just For You card
5"w x 7"h

Created: June 2, 2010

Over on Beeswaxrs, June's challenge is being sponsored by Onyx Xpressions.  Love their stamps. If you use only their stamps, the value of the prize is increased.

Since they have such beautiful Oriental type stamps, thought I'd go in that direction.

The stamp I used is Obata Magnolia plus Kanji word set #OA9960b. I colored the flower elements with Portfolio watercolor crayons on a light pink, then deeper pink on the edges, light green dark green & brown for the leaves and stems. Misted with water, and also misted a Craft sheet to rub my stamp in to to get more contact between the water and the colors. Then stamped onto Arches Text Wove paper (it is a versatile paper that accepts water media beautifully). I noticed my stamp still had lots of color on it, so misted again and stamped twice more but onto 110# white cardstock.  Worked nicely on that too. Dried with a hairdryer till completely dry. I then cleaned the stamp thoroughly, and tapped a Versafine Vintage Sepia cube just on the edges of the flower elements, then totally on the Kanji area and the border. Clear embossed everything. I love the soft look of the flowers with the hint of the darker accents. Trimmed it down to size. Mounted it to a pale pink cardstock.

Colored one of my white calligraphic Peel Offs "Just for You" with Copics (Brown #E08, and then Green #G99), and let it dry. Then adhered it to the floral element piece.

Sponged Distress stamp pads (Victorian Violet, Crushed Olive & Walnut Stain), onto white cardstock, repeating the sponging till I got a nice dense color. Spritzed with water, let the water activate the Distress colors, then dried with a hairdryer. Ran through Cuttlebug with the Oriental Weave folder from the Asian Bundle set, then brayered Versafine Toffee on the high points and embossed with Queen's Gold.

Scored and folded a deep brown cardstock. Adhered my Weave piece, then cut a strip of Asian decorative paper and adhered that just above the weave piece. Adhered my floral element. As a final touch added deep amber large faux rhinestones.

NOTE: These and other Peel Offs are my calligraphic word sentiments on the "Elizabeth Craft Design" labels. There are 11 styles available at the moment with another 2 to be available some time in 2010. They come in four different colors (gold, silver, black, and white); "Thank You", "It's a Boy, It's a Girl", "You're Invited" Congratulations" "Happy Birthday, "Love"; "Friends", "Thinking of You", "Xmas Seasonal", "Xmas" & Happy Anniversary"
