ID: MC July - Orange & Black - My Firend card
5.5"w x 4.25"h

Created: July 12, 2010

A play day with friends got postponed, so thought I'd work on a challenge piece. I was in the mood to use a bunch of punches and one of the challenges called for using traditional holiday colors (orange & black for Halloween) but on a non holiday card, and this is the result.

Ann's Creative Nook    #96 Anything Goes
The Pink Elephant  #75 Pocket card
Shelly's Images  No BD or other holiday card - Celebrate every day card
Pile it On Challenge  #27 Use Holiday colors for non Holiday card
Paper Sundaes
 #26 lots of layers

So this started out with punching a bunch of borders using various Martha Stewart punches. Starting from the bottom; Around the Page - 3 layers of Layered Arches; deep edger Daisy;  Around the Page - 2 layers of Iron Gate; Deco Fan.

Some were sponged or brayered with Distress stamp pads Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Dried Marigold, Rusty Hinge and or Aged Mahogany, then clear embossed.

The others were brayered with Versafine Black Onyx and embossed with (starting from the bottom) either Marcasite, Twilight, Midnight Black, and this black with Garnet.

The main cream toned card was colored with Distress pads applied to a craft sheet (Mustard yellow, Dried Marigold & Aged Mahogany), misted with water and pressed down into the wet dyes. Lifted and dried. Run through the Cuttlebug with Tim's Burlap fade out folder, then brayered the high points with Perfect medium and clear embossed.

Stamped the words with MSE Whimsy alphabet set in black and clear embossed, then wrote in my word "the" with a Sharpie pen. The "th" looks like an "A" in the pic... oh well. Adhered all the elements to the card leaving enough room for my tag to slide in easily (open ended pocket)

card with tag removed

The tag/bookmark is also from cream cardstock, using the same folder but hammered around the edges leaving the center portion flat for my stamped sentiment. I then used a Stylus to accent the lrectangle.

Stamped the sentiment , (Quietfire Design) with the black and clear embossed, then wrote in my word "my" with a black pen.

Punched a large hole and added a copper eyelet. Attached a bunch of orange and black fibres.
