gg designs challenge for what I thought was August is really September and to use wood veneer. What an interesting medium. Yes I've used veneer, but only on my furniture - BIG GRIN so this is the 2nd card for the challenge. Someone asked me if I had used my Cricut on wood veneer and the answer is no. I don't think I'll even try. I don't want the cutting mechanism to get caught in the grain of the wood. But I decided to try my Cuttlebug with a Sizzix die. In this card I used the "Puzzle" die and it worked very well. Although the veneer didn't hold up to the pressure. It cracked along the grain, especially at the week points of the interlocking sections. So I thought I'd try putting some Sookwang double sided tape on before die cutting. That worked better and at least held the pieces together, even though they did still crack. I left a large border around my cut image so I could trim it down and create a faux frame.

I used Birch and colored it with Twinkles H2o's. I remember having green stained furniture when I was a teen and have always liked that color. So the puzzle is stained with "Golden Jade"  with a touch of "Scarab Beetle & Burnt Umber". The frame section is colored with the "Cinnamon Brown" and a bit of the "Burnt Umber". I rubber stamped the quote (Quietfire Design) and the 4 pens (gg designs "Pen Set") with Versafine stamp pad "Black Onyx"

Adhered the veneer pieces to a cream toned mulberry paper and then onto an olive toned main card, leaving a very thin border.
