ID: Flourishes Aug 09  - Sketch Hip to be Square - Thanks
Size 5"w x 7"h

Created: Aug 2, 2009

Flourishes over on Rubber Stamp Chat has a sketch challenge for August called Hip to be Square. It just hit me that the sketch is probably a square card... Big Grin - but I normally don't make square cards mainly because postage and envelopes are more expensive for this size. So mine is a rectangle card.

I started with a white piece of cardstock approx 4.5 x 6.5 and using a sponging tool applied Distress stamp pad inks over the whole piece (Scattered Straw, then Mustard Yellow, then Spiced Marmalade & finally Frayed Burlap). Misted the paper from a distance so that some of my mist were droplets of water. I then rubber stamped the large flourish (Quietfire Design "Flourish Set") using the Mustard Seed, randomly all over. Then cut a smaller piece of white cardstock 3 x 4.5 and sponged Frayed Burlap heavily all over it. Rubber stamped the rest of the letters "hanks" (MSE Girlz Lower #Y502) alphabet set, with a Perfect Medium pad and brushed on Perfect Pearls Perfect Bronze, then over stamped with the Frayed Burlap. I edged this piece with Krylon Copper leafing pen.

The "T" portion of the word Thanks is the large flourish (created from the rubber stamp above)  which I cut using my Cricut Personal cutting machine and colored with Pan Pastels.

The butterfly (Quietfire Design "Butterfly Set") is also manipulated and cut with my Cricut and then colored with Perfect Pearls Perfect Copper. Stamped with Perfect Medium and clear embossed, then stamped to create a pattern with a  portion of the flourish stamp and embossed with gold. Curled the wings so they are more 3 dimensional and glued only the body portion.

Mounted everything to a deep brown cardstock.
