Won 2nd place ribbon at the Heritage Fall fair 2007

Created: July 9, 2007
Modified: Sept 12, 2007

This card was taught to me at Paper Pastimes by Carole. I loved the potential of it and it uses 3 sheets of standard 12 x 12 scrapbook paper.

I decided to use some of my hand decorated paper I made. I had done a watercolor and salt treatment on Arches Text Wove paper and used some punched out leaves as a resist/stamp in some areas.

The word "Friends" is puched out of vellum and stuck to the cover with Diamond Glaze, when dry shadowed with a black micron pen.

I added several beads (wood, plastic and stone)

Poem;

If I could catch a rainbow I would do it just for you. And share with you it's beauty on the days you're feeling blue.

If I could build a mountain you could call your very own. A place to find serenity a place to be alone.

If I could take your troubles I would toss them in the sea. But all these things I'm finding are impossible for me.

I cannot build a mountain or catch a rainbow fair. But let me be... what I know best, a friend that's always there.

Kahlil Gibran

The paper is folded in half and then folded at about the 2" point on the left side. A 1/2" is tucked under to give a nice fold edge and the bottom is tucked up at about 1/4". The right side is an open slot which I cut out in an oval shape. I used brads and eyelets to hold my pages closed, hiding the backs within the folds. I inserted a piece of burgundy Canson Mi-Tientes cardstock and wrote a punch of quotes "Pearls of Wisdom", using my gouache/gold powder misxture. The poem is done with a brown Zig marker.

You can see the 2 leaves I used on the cover, but you don't see the prongs on the back of the cover where the picture is.

The Picture slides out and can be replaced with anything else.

That flower shape on the right side has another quote running along the contours of the shape. It's loose and held under the flap. This is the center page and you can see the ribbon I used to hold the booklet together. The 3 pages (signatures) were put together, 2 holes punched on the spine and the ribbon threaded through.
