I'm creating a bunch of gilded cards as samples for a gilding class I'll be teaching in Aug/09. This is another sample. It uses one of Els Van de Burgt Peel Off designs (Spring 2009). She came out with some gorgeous designs and the butterflies are really nice. The word sentiments are my calligraphic Peel Offs sold under Els label at ecraftdesigns.com. There are are over a dozen themes with different style lettering on each sheet, and they come in black, white, gold & silver.

Gilding supplies available through Quietfire Design

I started out with a piece of cream toned cardstock for the main card. I placed the peel off butterfly onto a piece of Fabriano 140# CP watrcolor paper, put down my gold leaf and colored in my butterfly with Tombows and my waterbrush. Did my dry embossing then cut out the rectangle and the overhang of the butterfly and adhered it to my main card. I had already put a stripe of gold leaf on my main card. Added the Peel offs sentiment. I like the softer look of this card.
