wanted to try some glossy paper I use for alcohol inks. Wrote the letters with Ecoline inks.

I recently took a class with Julian Waters "Two Personalities of the Ruling Pen".  This is a few more pieces from that class.

ID: Julian Waters - Ruling Pen - Darkest Night
Size: 10.5"w x 7"h

Black glossy paper, Pearlescent Silver Moss ink. Lettering done with very quick strokes.

ID: Julian Waters - Ruling Pen - Contrast Thick Thin
Size: 7"w x 9"h

An exercise with thick and thin contrasts, done on Genoa bond paper using Higgin's brown ink. When dry, shadowed with a graphite pencil and paper stump.

Another sample of the thick/thin contrast - no shadowing.

a variation - 1 letter thin, 1 letter thicker...

Did the same technique put using Aladine "Rose" ink on the Genoa Bond paper, faux stitching... and pencil shading.

Playing again on Terra Skin paper using Higgin's black ink.

Love the matte finish. The pen just glides over the surface - really nice... and the ink dries a lot quicker on this surface than on glossy paper.
