The BVCG hosted Tamer Ghoniem with Circles On Steroids last night.
I Love Tamer's Blackletter styles in circles, which is what he was teaching this evening... but since I'm still doing stuff with Italic I thought I'd continue in that vein...
On Arches Text Wove paper drew my Base line circle at 2.5"R and x height at 3 1/8"R. Using an empty 3.8 Parallel pen I dropped Ecoline inks into the little hole in the nib area and started writing, changing colors with each refil in the little hole... Ecoline inks Deep Yellow, Scarlet & Turquoise Blue. As you can see I made my base circle approx. a 1/4" too small... so wrote the last word into the floral design.
Added a .005 black Micron pen outline and then colored in between the letters with a Derwent Inktense watercolor pencil and blended with a wet paintbrush. Added the floral and flourish details to fill the empty space.
