Postcards - Retro Deco

I recently took a 2 day workshop with Gemma Black from Tasmania, Australia. You can see what I created in those 2 days by clicking HERE

And our Guild is challenging us to create and mail postcards for our May meeting. So here are a few...

They are all 7"w x 5"h mounted on 110# Neenah white cardstock with a deckled edge created with a rotary cutter. They are nice and stiff...

Arches 140# HP Watercolor Paper. Mixes of Gold Ochre, Alizarin Crimson & Burnt Umber (all Winsor & Newton). Background QoR Paynes Gray. Adhered to the Neenah cardstock.

ID: Postcard - Donna Uncles

#110 Neenah cardstock and Prisma colored pencils blended with a Lyra Splendor Blendor.

Everything outlined with Ecoline Gold ink and a Nikko G pointed pen nib.

Adhered to another piece of Neenah cardstock.

 

 

 

ID: Postcard - Renate Worthington

Arches 140# HP Watercolor Paper. Mixes of Gold Ochre, Alizarin Crimson & Burnt Umber (all Winsor & Newton). 

Large letter and name done with Ecoline Gold ink and a Nikko G pointed pen nib. Outlining with a brown Zig Writer.

Since I added the rose as an after thought I painted the base with Copic white opaque ink mixed with water, then dropped in my watercolors.

Adhered to the Neenah cardstock.

ID: Postcard - Cathy Bauer

Arches 140# HP Watercolor Paper. Paper sprayed generously with water and inks dropped in and allowed to do their thing... IDr Martins Tech Ink - Daffodil, Turquoise & Rhodamine.

Lettering and artwork drawn in with a pencil then negative areas painted with QoR Paynes Gray.

Adhered to the Neenah cardstock.

 

 

ID: Postcard - Thea Paul

#110 Neenah cardstock. Monoline letter and name done with Cornelissen 85 "Standard Gold 22 KT". I used Jerry Tresser pink adhesive. Not my best gold leaf application, but I haven't done it in a few years...so will have to practice a bit. BIG GRIN.

All paints are by Holbein. Flowers painted with "Opera" (love this color). Leaves with "Permanent Green" and background with "Peacock Blue". Full intensity on the right side, a pale version in the center area and a mid tone on the left side.

Adhered to the Neenah cardstock.

ID: Postcard - Barb Fuller

I used one of the cut out's I made for Gemma's class using my electronic cutter and black cardstock. Backed it with an acrylic painted background that was pressed onto another glossy cardstock giving a mottled and textured look.

The monoline letter was painted with Gansai Tambi Pearl Colors "Scarlet Red". But on black it was more of a pink. The leave were colored with Prisma colored pencils., The background of the letter with Gansai Tambi Starry Colors ""Blue Gold"

The name was colored with Prisma colored pencils.

ID: Postcard - George Huitema

#140 Arches Hot Press watercolor paper. Monoline letter painted with Twinkles H2º gold paint, when dry applied Jerry Tresser adhesive. When dry applied Robertson's 23.75kt gold leaf and tooled it.

Everything was inked with a black Zig Writer, then painted with the Twinkles H2º.

 Adhered to the Neenah cardstock.

#140 Arches Hot Press watercolor paper. Monoline letter painted with Ecoline Gold, when dry over painted with Twinkles H2º gold. Everything outlined with the Ecoline gold and a pointed pen. After painting went over some of the lines with a gold gel pen...

Background in full name done with Twinkles H2º. Background in monoline letter done with Winsor Blue - Red Shade watercolor.

Quote written with a black Micron .02 pen. Dots between words done with a gel pen (Sakura Metallic Blue)
