John Neal Envelope Contest 2018

Date: March 29, 2018
Modified: June 13, 2018

John Neal Books put out an envelope  contest, and I really wanted to enter it. We were given 4 ways we could enter the contest. I used 3 of them and as it turns out, one of them was chosen to be published in the next Bound and Lettered magazine - issue #15.4

I'm so thrilled...

And I have just been informed the other two envelopes will make it in one of their issues. Sheesh.

all the lettering on these envelopes stems from the recent classes I've been taking taught by Kerri Forster.

I used a flat edged brush, loading with a yellow and then side loading with some red Winsor & Newton watercolors in  Foundational style.

The address section was done with a parallel pen and Sumi ink

The whole envelope was edged with a red Zig Marker.

This was the one selected to be published...

I used Brusho's and Colour Burst powders to create the background.

Lettering done with a flat edged brush and Copic White Opaque ink mixed with H2º.

Love the Star Wars postage stamps Canada came out with...

All the envelopes were given a coating of Dorland's Wax Medium to protect them in the mail.
