ID: ECS - Aug/21 - Pen Is Mightier
Size: 9" sq

Created: August 15, 2021

This month's Edmonton Calligraphy Society's challenge is Pen, Ink, Paper.

On Be Super Deluxe paper, 3.8 Parallel pen filled with Holbien Red Flame gouache and double dipped into FW Pearlesent "Genesis Green" ink wrote out the text in Blackletter style. Detailing with a black micron pen and a red Zig Writer. Painted the sword and feather with QoR watercolors.

Quote: The pen is mightier than the sword. Edward Bulwer-Lytton

Formula: Write out your text with the nib and in the lettering style you'll use. Measure it and do a radius calculation. (C=2πR) or R=C÷2π If the length (circumference) of my work is 15", (π= 3.14) so 2π = 6.28. Divide 6.28 into your circumference of 15" and you get basically a radius of 2.4".
