2010 Our September Guild Galleria theme is "Its Gone". There are a lot of things that come and go in life, but one of the things I'm always sorry to see gone are figs at this time of year (or rather a few weeks ago). I have this wonderful rubber stamp from Flourishes of figs and I thought it would be perfect for this piece, but then I had to come up with some words, and they just came naturally with how I felt. I worked on 110# white cardstock, stamped my image with Versafine Black Onyx and colored with colored pencils. Wrote my quote with Lyra Color Giant greenish pencil, then went over the lettering with their 4-color pencil (has green, yellow, blue & red in one pencil). So it gave nice color variations, with a fall feeling. The single line was done with a Micron black pen and an Arial font style. I wanted that line to be long and different to symbolize the wait I'll have to go through for the next years crop to arrive. I then made a mask and sponged Distress stamp pad Antique Linen around the edges. Words: I love fresh figs. All kinds. They come in and out of my life so quickly I blink and they're gone. I patiently wait for next year's crop. |
