Abstract - Wassily Kandinsky - Color Is The Keyboard Image Size:
9" w X 8.5" H Our Guild (BVCG.ca) has a theme of pick an artist, create some artwork in his/her style and then do something calligraphic with that style... I'm not really a fan of Kandinsky or abstract art, but there are a few pieces I like of his work. This one spoke to me... "Black & Violet"(1923) I drew the abstract design and colored with Prisma colored pencils on Super Deluxe Bee Paper. Did my Funky Neuland style lettering for the quote using a 2.4 Parallel pen and Sumi ink. Colored the negative sections of letters with the Prisma colored pencils. I thought the ticks and tins of this lettering style mimicked the abstract thicks and thins... Quote: Color is the keyboard, the eyes are the harmonies, the soul is the piano with many strings. The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key or another to cause vibrations in the soul. Wassily Kandinsky |
