Nov 27, 2007 - Brown - Burgundy Xmas

Both cards start out with the same background paper, except that, one is one side and the other is the other side of that paper.

I used Arches Text wove paper, wet it well and scrunched it up. Opened it up and sprayed it with walnut ink, scrunched it up really well, then opened it up again, dried it and sprayed it with workable fixative. Now the right side is a deep walnut color and the reverse is a pale shade of walnut, both with deepened color on the creases. I am now working  on the wrong side, re-wet the paper, and brushed on a mix of Lumiere "Burgundy" paint, Liquitex iridescent medium and a touch of water. Scrunched the paper really well, opened it and dried it. I ironed it a bit too. Both sides have the walnut ink and the burgundy color showing through either lightly or more pronounced depending on which side the paint was applied on. I cut my paper in half using the "wrong side" for one and the "right side" for the other to create my cards (really, there is no wrong or right side)

This one is made with the walnut ink side, scrunched up again and I passed a Distress "walnut Ink" stamp pad over the ridges to emphasize them. Adhered it to Bazill monochromatic cardstock "Java". Dyed a piece of white ribbon with the walnut ink, rinsed out and dried, then attached it to the card. Added a gold string to hang the ornament. Adhered these layers to the main burgundy toned cardstock. Rubber stamped the quote (Quietfire Design "Take time") on gold pearlized vellum using Staz-On black stamp pad.  Tore around the quote and attached it to my card using Diamond Glaze just on the edge. Stuck on a bunch of silver Peel-Offs snowflakes (which I painted gold with a Krylon gold leafing pen).

Ornament is a mold from After Midnight. I selectively dropped in Opals embossing powders (also from After Midnight) into the crevices of the mold, then sprinkled on UTEE clear, pearescent and gold. Glued the ornament to my card using Golden's extra heavy gel medium.

For this card I used the Lumiere Burgundy side. Adhered it to the "Java" Bazill cardstock, then onto the gold embossed wheat toned mulberry type paper (Quietfire Design), then onto Strathmore cardstock "Burgundy". I adhered Peel Offs candles to a white glittered textured paper, which I then colored in with Sakura glaze pens for the candles and colored pencils for the flame then stuck them to my card. Rubber stamped the quote (Quietfire Design "Light tomorrow") with Brilliance Dew Drops "Galaxy Gold" stamp pad and embossed  it with "Priate's Gold". Over stamped it with Distress "Black Soot" and touched up a couple little areas with a black micron pen. Added the Peel Offs gold edging, "Merry Christmas" and holly leaves.
