July 22, 2008 - Skinny & Orange

"Imagine" 3"w x 5"h
I think I made a skinny once before but was quite a while back and can't remember what it was. Not something I normally make.

I went to a friend's house a saw an absolutely fabulous background done on aluminum using acrylic paints. I came home and tried to recreate what I saw. This is a far cry from it. Will have to try again, but worked out well none the less.

For the aluminum piece I used the plumber's silver tape which I scrunched up to get good creases in, then  painted with Golden's fluid acrylics in Yellow Ochre, Hansa Yellow Medium, Naphthol Red Light, Green Gold and Phthalo Green (Blue Shade), each mixed a a bit of water. Applied it randomly and allowed to dry. Brushed over the whole surface with Golden's Iridescent Bronze (Fine) also  mixed with water. When that was dry, I rubbed over the high points with a Staz On black stamp pad. Removed the protective backing and adhered it to a pumpkin colored Bazzill Monochromatic cardstock. The black background is a thick piece of cardstock which I wove several different orange toned strips of paper through, then adhered my aluminum piece. Rubber stamped the word "Imagine" (Roann Mathias) in the center and then portions of the word on either side, with a Brilliance gold stamp pad and Queen's Gold embossing powder. Glued on my 3 mini glass globs with Golden's soft gel medium (24 hours later they are still slightly opaque and I guess need another 48 hours to dry completely.
