"Spring/pastels - Rumi"  card
Size: 5"w x 7"h

This weeks theme is the Spring Fever or Pastels

So I did a little of both... I just won this digital image of the blossom branch (Floppy Latte Digital Designs). I toned down the color of the outline to a light grey rather than the actual black so that it wouldn't be as noticeable on my watercoloring.

The quote is from Quietfire Design.

I printed the blossom branch on white 110# cardstock and painted it with Peerless watercolors and my little waterbrush.

I aligned the quote with a Spellbinder's oval die, then stamped it with Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed it. I also cut the oval shape from some scrap cardstock to use as a mask. I place the mask down, then I positioned the die in the opening of the mask and sponged some Distress ink, Faded Jeans. I then positioned my drop out die cut, sponged the Faded Jeans again all over and a touch of Dusty Concord at the bottom of the oval, leaving a white border between the two spongings. I avoided sponging in the flower area.

I punched out the borders from Bazzill monochrome cardstock and the top one from some Bling (very pale yellow, slightly deeper tone and the orangey tone) using the EK Success Deco Scallop edger. I cut the edge of some of the buds so the borders would sit under, giving the branch depth.

I used a white main card, then adhered the mint green monochrome layer edge to edge and trimmed the blossom piece so it would leave a small border around the card. I also used one of Martha Stewart's Around the Page corner punches "Eyelet Lace" for the right hand corners.

I added the yellowish toned half pearls and the little nylon wired butterfly.

I looked at the card and the blue background looked bare, so I pulled out a swirl pattern stencil from Crafters Workshop and lightly sponged more Faded Jeans to give a ghost image.
