Created: April 17, 2011 This weeks theme is the Ribbon I really do like ribbons, but just don't use them very often - but I really do love them... So I had done the yellow gathered ribbon on double sided tape a couple of days before I started this card. When I saw the theme, I figured that was a good starting off point. And since the theme was ribbons, figured I'd make another of those ribbon rose flowers. The quote is from Quietfire Design. |
My main card is white. I
used one of my newest embossing folders by Sizzix "Starry Night" (can't
figure out why this is called starry night...). Anyway Sponged Frayed
Burlap over my front, then some Scattered Straw & then blended with
Antique Linen. Embossed with the folder (using my rubber mallet) and hit
the high points with the Vintage Photo and clear embossed. Layered a
piece of white ribbon on an angle. Die cut the Spellbinders Beaded Circle from white cardstock, sponged with Scattered Straw, Mustard yellow & Worn Lipstick. Stamped the quote with Versafine Black Onyx. Put a round bead of Glossy Accents onto each colored circle. Set aside to dry, then layered on to the card. Then adhered the yellow gathered ribbon. The flower is a ribbon rose flower I learnt recently from Becca Feeken. She's such a creative person. The branch/leaf is cut with my Cricut and sponged with various Distress greens. The butterfly is also cut with my Cricut and colored with Tombows in yellow and orange. I then embossed the wings with UTEE and reapplied several times, one wing at a time to get the UTEE to fill the holes in the wings. Didn't quite work the way I wanted, so added flakes of "Frozen Opals" and that gave me more the look I wanted. The bottom parts of the wings, I put a piece of Sookwang tape onto a precut smaller wing shape and then added glitter mixing a bit of yellow with orange. |
