"CBH Sept 15 - "Q" -
Quilled Queen Anne's Lace & Quote Card"
I love the look of Queen Anne's Lace, so rolled a bunch of tight coils from some white 1/8" wide quilling paper on a pin (I first cut off the pointy tip of the pin so I wouldn't stab myself) then cut them in half. There are several reason I did this, 1) I only had to coil half as many and that's a huge plus, 2) I'm always conscious of what can fit in the mailing slot at the post office before they charge you more, 3) when the coil is cut, it compresses and gives a beautifully smooth kind of polished finish to the coil. They're squished into an oval, but easily reshaped into a circle when sandwiched between my tweezers. I used 4 ply waxed linen olive thread for my stems. Double layered the Fern Fronds (EK Success punch) from some of the Thai paper, and from some hand colored copy paper. The words were written with a script nib and a mix of white inks. The burgundy cardstock has a pretty linen texture to it and was layered to a white cardstock which I had first run through my Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots embossing folder. I rounded all the corners. |
On the inside I inserted a piece of white Linen stationary and rubber stamped the quote (Quietfire Design) using a Versafine stamp pad "Imperial Purple" and then the Queen Anne's Lace (Old Island Rubber Stamps #578-C) using a Perfect Medium pad and embossing with White Gold embossing powder. Rounded the corners of the insert as well. |
