"CBH July 28 - Asian - Hydrangea Card"
Size: 5"w x 7"h

I was lucky enough the other day to pick up an Oriental newspaper that a gentleman left on the bus. I was watching him read it and wondering if he was going to leave it or not, and when he put it down and got of the bus, I jumped up a grabbed it BIG GRIN.

Anyway, I tore of a section and mounted it to a piece of white cardstock. Smeared some very very thin gesso (Palmer brand which I don't recommend except for cheap thin coverage). I then used Distress stamp pads and a sponging tool to color over the gesso in blues and greens. Tore the edge and flicked a Versafine stamp pad over the edge (Majestic Blue) and dipped the edge into Queen's Gold embossing powder.

Took a piece of dark blue cardstock and ran it through my Cuttlebug with the branches embossing folder, on the horizontal and moving my cardstock to emboss the whole page, which is larger than the embossing folder.

Mounted both these pieces to a main cream card.

For the Hydrangea, I used a Dreamweaver stencil #LJ888, colored it first with Pebbles Pearlescent chalks, then skimmed over it with dreamweaver white embossing paste. When dry colored it a bit more in areas with Pan Pastels (Ultramarine Blue). Added little yellow centers in some of the flowers with a Tombow marker. Cut it out and mounted it to my card, minus the leaves which didn't turn out the way I wanted them to, so cut them off. I had a piece of cardstock that I had smeared Distress Crackle paint on (White) and colored with some green Distress stamp pad. Cut it out and adhered it to the flower.

The Blue rectangle under the flower was created by folding a piece of paper and punching it out with the McGill stacking series of Fancy Squares 1.5" punch. By folding it, and not putting it into the whole area of the punch, I got a different sized image. I then crinkled the paper several times and ran a Distress pad (Blue Jeans) over the high points and misted with water, then ironed to make it both flat and dry. Embossed the edges as above. Rubber stamped my word Serenity (Quietfire Design) and gold embossed it.  I also rubber stamped the Oriental character "Tranquility" and embossed with the gold.
