Well I have a ton of favorite backgrounds, so which one to choose. So I decided to go wondering through my technique journals and came across this one which I hadn't done in ages, but always really liked. It's done on white tissue paper, using black gesso and then coloring with acrylic paints. (can be done with white gesso too, gives a more subtle look)

I did 3 different backgrounds (a couple are for some VSN submissions. This one was done with Bob Ross black gesso, 3 layers brayered (drying between layers) on the front only, can do on the back too, makes it stronger. Brayered with Luna Lights (Light Blue, Dark Blue, Ruby & Silver), then when this was dry went over with Folk art Metallic Black Sequin and then wiped off with a damp sponge. Cut it down to size, mounted to a dark blue cardstock.

Cut an oval with the Nestabilities using some cyrstal flecked white textured paper, rubber stamped the quote  (Quietfire Design "Even a small star") with  Versafine Black Onyx. Rubber stamped the "Drama Queen" (Cornish Heritage Farms) with the black and colored in with Metallic Gel pens and a water brush, then cut it out and adhered it to the oval. Punched out the star using holographic Peel off material.
