Back for Patti S: I used Arches 140lb HP watercolor paper and Portfolio water soluble oil pastels to create the background. Covered the whole piece of paper with yellows & oranges and blended with my finger, then covered everything with dark brown and dark blue and blended that. Used a 3.8 Pilot Parallel Pen to inscribe my words "you will always find time" into the wax of the pastels. It's hard to see the small words that are the continuation of the quote, but I went in between the lines and scratched in the words with a pointed awl "to do the things your really want to do". I gave it several coats of Crystal Clear, but it still was fragile. So I put a coat of Durawax. Still not happy. So I painted on a coat of DecoArt DuraClear. Because of all the waxy applications before the DuraClear, it bubbled making it look like netting (which I really like) and it isn't fragile anymore. |
