This series of ATC's is a direct result of a class I took with Connie Furgason in May 2006. She demonstrated using walnut ink and lettering on a larger piece of paper, altering the artwork with a water & a  paintbrush, scribbling with markers and metallic paints or inks, then cutting up the artwork into smaller pieces. I think it's a very effective way to add drama. There are many times I would work on a larger piece and end up not liking the end result, but by cutting it up into smaller sections and reusing these pieces on cards or in journals starts me going into a whole other path.

In these I started, using a 6.0 Pilot Parallel Pen and dipping into a strong solution of walnut ink I wrote the words DREAM,  BELIEVE, LIFE & LOVE onto either Arches Text Wove paper or Velin BF (slightly heavier than Text wove). When everything was dry I used a large round brush and some water and swiped across the words, or in a couple I just wet around the letters themselves. When dry On some I added Dr Martins metallic inks in copper and gold. I then cut out my smaller squares. The are all mounted onto dark brown cardstock except for Song to Sing #1 on Gold metallic cardstock.

Dream #1: I wrote the word "DREAM" with gold leaf adhesive and a smaller parallel pen and applied my red/gold/black leaf. I also added a pewter star brad in each corner.

Imagine #1: Same leafing technique on the Word "IMAGINE" and added the words "Dare to" with a red pen and gold gel pen. I used copper square brads in each corner.

Look for the Dream #1: I used a rubber stamp (Quietfire Design - Look for the Dream) and thermal embossed using gold embossing powder. I added copper glitter to the edge.

Song to Sing #1: I rubber stamped (Quietfire Design - Each of Us Has a Song to Sing) and thermal embossed with gold embossing powder. I wrote out the words at the bottom of the card. I also added a charm of a treble clef.

Song to Sing #2: I rubber stamped (Quietfire Design - Each of Us Has a Song to Sing) and thermal embossed with gold embossing powder. I wrote out the words at the bottom of the card. I also thermal embossed a treble clef in gold.
