PP Theme September 2009 Bugs

I believe it was Sherrie that gave us the Bug challenge this month. Perfect timing too, because Inkadinkado came out with another batch of gorgeous rubber stamps with lots of bugs in them.

This first row, the background was done with a hand cut stencil of a honey comb, and I used a sponging tool and distress stamp pads. Then used a Peel Off (one of Els designs from the Spring of 09). Fill them in with some Ritz Micro fine glitter, then wrote the words.

The 1st one in the 2nd row uses the same stencil as above but run through my Cuttlebug and then rubbed with metallic Rub Ons. The bee was first rubber stamped and then I added the shaped jewels. Added the words with a Sharpie and added some clear glitter in the wings.

The 2nd one uses Pan Pastels and Evolving Images Stencil/mask and the a crackle stamp which was gold embossed, then rubber stamped with the quote (Quietfire Design). Gold krylon for the edges and a spatter stamp for interest.

The 3rd one was partially done in one of my gilding classes. The positive portion of the leaf was used up, so I cut around it again to get a border, added adhesive in the open areas that were the positive sections before and added variegated green metal leaf. Used Pand pastels for the background and rubber stamped the ants one at a time. They're so cute.

The first in the 3rd row was again colored with Pan Pastels and uses Evolving Images Stencil/mask and the rubber to go with it. I used the Fiddleheads and Papillon stamp from Quietfire Design. Gold Krylon edge and a bunch of green faux rhinestones.

The 2nd and 3rd were done on black cardstock and sprayed with some Pearl Ex mixed with water and gum Arabic in a mini mister. Dried and then rubber stamped with the image and clear embossed. I went over the spider with ArtQuest Interference color palette (gold) over the black body and stamped image. Added the words with a Quickie glue pen and black and gold Ritz Glitter. The fly was painted with the interfernce colors and then a bunch of faux rhinestones added. The quote was written with a quill nib and the gold interference.
