The Bow Valley Calligraphy Guild has a theme of Gold ATC's for this month's Galleria. I recently made the Alpha Uncials for another swap and liked them so much thought I'd make some with gold too.

I started out with white cardstock and just wrote large individual letters in the "split Uncial" style, leaving lots of space around each to cut out later when the letter was dry. I used Moon Palace Sumi ink and Betty Locke's automatic medium sized pen (needless to say it was a very wet letter when done...). I cut out rectangular pieces off centering the letter. Then just put the first words that came to me when I looked at that letter. Colored the backgrounds on some with Pan Pastels. Did some stencilling (the cats) or rubber stamping with gold embossing powder (the dragonfly & Christmas Holly) or added gold Peel Offs to decorate the letter or add an accent to the ATC. Added a sticker to the "F" one (the frog - so cute) or a gold charm (Soul Mates). Did some of the gold accents with a Sanford Unibal gold gel pen (very nice creamy ink). The black lettering is done with a  Micron pen and the white with Dr Martin's Bleed Proof white and a quill nib.

I like using unusual contrasting colors of cardstock. Big Grin.
