Paper Casting and / or with Quilling (September 2008)

Created: Sept 8, 2008

Modified:

I always save my small scraps of paper for the eventual day I might do some paper casting. Well that day arrived recently. I had some friends over and we had a good time casting. We mainly used white and cream toned paper, and colored with sprays or by the dyes in the flowers we put on. (mainly from my red Xmas Cactus). For several of them I used the Cedar Canyon Texture plates available from Quietfire Design.

Love these two. They're made from the plate with one large flower on it and then I cut it up. added some of my cactus flower petals which is what gave it the pink coloring. Mounted them both to a fuchsia colored cardstock. The quote is also from Quietfire Design stamped onto Clear Shrink Plastic and attached with a  brad.

I had made some screens the size of ATC's and this was made on one of them. I added the fibers into the slurry and put a bit more slurry on top in sections to make sure it stayed in place. Mounted it to a bright green cardstock. Words written with a Zig green marker.

I also love this texture plate. When you cast something smack in the middle it just has wonderful lines to it. I then rubbed some red Rub Ons over the high points when it was dry. I had originally put a bright colored square brad in the center, but had to change to the round brad after making my shrink art piece. The square brad was too large for the circle. I had written the word Wonder with a black marker and cut it out in a circle. Added Stickles dots. I've made a few more of these patterns. Wonder what I'll do with them.

I recently took a quilling class at Paper Pastimes. So every once in a while I add a bit of Quilling. This is cast from some scrap grey paper I recently had from some books I made. Rubber stamped the flourish and then said this is perfect to add quilled details.. The quote is again from Quietfire and done on clear shrink plastic, my new best friend. Just love this stuff.
