"Faux Enamel (April 2007)

I used the same basic enameling technique for all these kimono ATC's. Create a small background piece of cardstock, for the design in the kimono, using a small outline type stamp (so you have lots of areas to color in) and Pirate's Gold embossing powder. Rubber stamp the Kimono stamp (or draw it in and use my thermal embossing technique) and emboss with Pirate's Gold. Color in the whole kimono. I used Color Brushes and Tombow markers and my water brush with iridescent mixture.  When everything was dry I filled in the spaces again with Sakura Glaze pens and or Glossy Accents to give that faux enamel look. Cut out the kimono shape and attached it to my ATC.

For the kimono detail (Pink Cat Studio part of 11 pce Oriental Set) on Sumi Rice paper then glued to a piece of cardstock.. I hand drew the kimono and used my thermal embossing technique. I mounted everything onto an aqua cardstock. The strip on the left is a piece of white see through ribbon that I painted with Tombow markers and rubber stamped the word "Serenity" with and alphabet stamp set and blue stamp pad. I cut around the flowers on the left over background piece of rice paper and glued it behind my kimono.  Mounted the aqua cardstock onto a gold metallic cardstock.

I mounted everything onto a purple cardstock. The strip on the left is a piece of gold metallic marbled decorative paper and the circle is thermal embossed with a mix of various colors of embossing powders and punched out with a 2" circle punch.  Mounted the purple cardstock onto a gold metallic cardstock.

This is the only kimono I actually used a pre patterned kimono stamp (Pink Cat Studio part of 11 pce Oriental Set) on Arches 140lb watercolor paper. I mounted everything onto a light brown cardstock which I ribbed using my "Scor-it" board. The papers on the left are some orange and yellowish mulberry paper. Wrote the word "Joy" with the thick portion of a Zig brown marker. Mounted the brown cardstock onto a a bright yellow cardstock.
