Xmas 2006 Beaded Snowflake Series

At our recent BVCG Xmas party I learnt how to make a beaded snowflake. I loved the look and thought it would be great for a coming xmas ATC trade I was going to. These are the results using some of the snowflakes I made.

I used a dark blue velvet paper mounted on white pearlized cardstock. I drew in the snowflake using a clear Sakura stardust gel pen in the approx location the beaded snowflake would fall (the hanging snowflake is removable). The word "Snowflake was done with my thermal embossing tech. using white embossing powder. The word "Glistening" was done with a Sakura Quickie Glue Pen and a whitish glitter. the words "are you Listening..." was done with Dr. Martin's Bleed Proof white ink and a touch of water using a script nib. I attached the beaded snowflake using fishing wire taped to the back of the ATC.

The beaded snowflakes was done using 32 gauge wire and 3 different size beads. A #10 or #8 seed bead (small beads), a #6 seed bead (med. bead) and a size 3 - bugle bead (long type). I used my rheostat and my Dremel to twist the wire to form a really nice tight decorative and neat twist for the loop.

Note: without the rheostat to control the RPM, the wire twisted faster than I could turn the switch on and off and breaking the wire at the collet head.
