A while back I picked up a technique from one of my rubber stamp magazines to do paper batik. It worked wonderfully. I wanted to do it again (but I couldn't find the article again so...I improvised). Worked OK too.

In this case I used some sumi paper, misted it with water, and randomly applied yellows, magenta and  blue watercolors. When dry I applied a thin coat of paraffin wax, carefully crumpled the paper, then used my "Denim Adirondak Solution" to color into the creases. Again when dry, I place my paper between layers of newsprint and ironed until all the wax was removed (changing the newsprint often). I then thermal embossed my words. I mounted them all onto a bright yellow cardstock. The paper is so thin that any other cardstock dulled the effect.

With Understanding #1: Prior to painting the paper I rubber stamped some butterflies and flowers using clear embossing powder. Then did above instructions.  I added the words Fly with me in gold embossing powder.

Each Flower: I thermal embossed using a flower stamp with white embossing powder. "Just living is not enough, one must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower" Hans Christian Anderson. done with black embossing powder.

All the Flowers #1: I thermal embossed using a flower stamp with white embossing powder. "The flower that follows the sun, does so even on a cloudy day." Robert Leighton in copper embossing powder.
