Valentine 2007 ATC series

Most of these ATC's have some piece of a "Baby Wipes" technique background in them.  Some online friends gave me the directions they used and from there I spring board to the results below.

I used a deep red cardstock as the base. Lay down a piece of white ribbon, glued my strip of 'baby wipes Tech #1" ( was then scrunched up and lightly brushed over with a Distress stamp pad "walnut ink" and clear embossed), added a very narrow piece of red silk ribbon. Cut out a large heart from some alcohol decorated glossy paper (reds and gold) and added a gold glitter border and glued it on top of everything. Added my words with a black micron pen.

Words: And when the future hinges on the next words that are said, don't let logic interfere, believe your heart instead.  Philip Robinson

I used a heart border punch which I punched on both sides of a narrow strip of light pink Bazill cardstock. Used it first as a template,  on a salmon pink Bazill cardstock, to put glue in the negative areas, removed the strip, and added my gold glitter. Let that dry before gluing down the border strip. Cut out a large heart from "baby wipes tech #2" (scrunched and clear embossed) and added a fuchsia glitter border. Added my words with a black micron pen. Mounted it onto a gold metallic cardstock.

Words: Love is the master key that open the gates of heaven.

I used the "baby wipes tech #2 (scrunched and clear embossed) on the left side, added a row of seed beads. Punched out a small heart from glossy paper alcohol background and glued it onto a slightly larger gold vellum heart and then onto the purple cardstock. Added my words with a white gel pen. Mounted it onto a pink cardstock.

Each of these started with the same background papers, but in different combinations. I took 3 pieces of paper (a heavily textured white mulberry, a mottled mauve mulberry & "baby wipes tech #2 - scrunched and clear embossed), stacked them one on top of the other, then cut my wavy pattern through all 3 pieces at the same time. That way I could mix and match the separate layers. I alternated the papers and glued them to some basic cardstock and mounted that onto purple cardstock. Added a row of purple glue beads then sprinkled some multi colored holeless beads. Added a line of fuchsia glitter, and a line of pink pearlized 3 D glue, punched out my hearts from glossy paper alcohol background (pinks, purples & gold) and heavily clear embossed them.

Added a row of seed beads.

Words: Love is a canvas furnished by nature and embroidered by imagination. Voltaire

Words: Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love. Lao Tzu

I added a row of punched out Sakura flowers from the same alcohol decorated paper and put a pink rhinestone in the center of each.

Words: If I had a single flower for every time I think about you, I could walk forever in my garden. Claudia Ghandi

I used my heart border punch on both sides of a narrow piece of decorated pink cardstock and glued a piece of narrow purple silk ribbon. Glued the punched ribbon on top of white lace onto the purple cardstock. Punched out a small heart from glossy cardstock magic color background, added a border of purple glitter.

Words: May no gift be too small to give, nor too simple to receive, which is wrapped in thoughtfulness and tied with love. L.O. Baird

I used a Tech #3 background and a clear embossing stamp pad all over the paper and sprinkles with JudiKins Psychedelic embossing powder. This embossing powder when heated changes colors and is very variegated in greens, pinks, blues golds etc. It's a gorgeous EP.  I cut out the heart shape and then embossed it with clear UTEE. Glued it to the background paper and using my thermal embossing method outlined it in gold embossing powder. This also adhered the heart because the EP caught on the edge of the heart and onto the background. Punched out a bunch of sakura flowers from a couple of scrap pieces of alcohol decorated paper in reds and in purples. Added a dab of Stickles iridescent glue in the centers of the flowers. Wrote my quote with my thermal embossing tech with copper embossing powder. Mounted it onto gold metallic cardstock.

Words: If I had a single flower for every time I think about you, I would walk forever in my garden. Claudia Ghandi

I used a previously watercolor decorated piece of Arches text wove as the background. Punched out a 2.5" purple cardstock heart. Made my slits for weaving keeping the shape of the heart. Used various strips of paper to weave through and did a couple lines of the rose bud weaving. Added my words with a Sakura Mauve Stardust pen. Mounted it onto gold metallic cardstock.

Words: I am the connections that I weave. African Proverb

Baby Wipes Background Technique

1) The basic technique is to apply color (drizzle in a wavy or splotchy manner) to a surface like a piece of glass or melt art mat (my favorite)  or disposable palette etc. Mist with a touch of water use your finger to mush the colors around a bit (not too much) then lay a piece of baby wipes on top and press down, moving your wipes until it's all covered with paint. remove and let it dry.

or

#2) mix up some colors with some water and scrunch up your baby wipe, dipping sections of it into the different  watered colors, almost like tie dying.

I prefer the 1st method.

Tech #1: Drizzle these acrylic paints, Delta Ceramcoat  Pineapple, Golden Brown, Gypsy Rose, Dark Brown & Deco Art Dazzling Metallic Emperor's Gold, mist with water and mush around with your finger. Lay down baby wipes, remove and let dry.

Tech #2: Scribble in a heavy manner,  these Portfolio water soluble oil pastels, pink, red orange, violet & peach. Mist with water and rub with your finger to move the colors around. Press your baby wipe and move around till fully covered. Remove and let dry.

Tech #3: I colored horizontal lines in a multitude of shades with my Portfolio water soluble pastels. Misted lightly with water, dabbed with my finger then lay the baby wipe on top mushing it around.  Remove and let dry
