July11 - Coiled and Cone Flowers

Created: June 27 2011
Modified: July 16, 2011

I've recently been making a lot of cone shaped flowers and then also playing with coiled flowers both with threads/cords & wire, these are some of my smaller versions.

all the backgrounds are trellis scored using Martha's Scoring tool, then Distress stamp pad direct to paper either on the debossed or the embossed side. Most use Pumice Stone with Weathered Wood. Some use Scattered Straw and Wild Honey, the last one uses Victorian Velvet. The cones are a scrapbook paper on one side and distress (Mustard Yellow, Wild Honey & Barn Door) on the other side punched out as a 3/4" or 1/2" circle, then coned and adhered closed around the point of a pencil. The wire coils are adhered to cardstock circles using E600 adhesive, sandwiched between some release paper and left to cure over night. Those coils really don't want to stay flat... Details of glitter or smaller punched out daisy type flowers. I also made petals using Pink Iris Shimmer Sheetz, first dry embossed with the Swiss Dots folder and then punched out, or White iris punched with an odd oval shape, or the Bronze Iris dry embossed with the D'Vine swirls and colored with alcohol inks. Leaves and other details were die cut or punched out from various decorative papers. lettering done with a micron pen or a Zig Writer.
